Join us for
“Embedded”, an exciting new solo exhibition by conceptual artist
Steph Giera opening at the Shapot Art Gallery in Ocala, FL on Saturday, March
29th, 2025. This multi-faceted exhibit will include thought-provoking artwork
in a variety of mediums such as photography, video art, installations,
assemblages, and interactive art. In addition, Giera will debut a special
performance art piece on opening night that you won’t want to miss!
Show Statement:
“Embedded” explores
the profound emotional weight of the seemingly-simple everyday object, the bed.
Inspired by the thesis for her Art History degree, Giera further delves into
the subject with a concentration on its historical and autobiographical significance,
while also challenging many essentialist theories. The bed is the location
where most of us are born and where most of us will die. Where we sleep and
wake. Where we cuddle and have sex. A place we go when we’re sick to become
healthy. Where we experience every emotion from trauma to pure joy. “Embedded”
invites the viewer to engage with the extraordinary within the ordinary, and to
rediscover the world anew.

Artist Talk and
Lecture:
Saturday, April 5th
1-3 PM
The artist talk will
include a screening of the artist’s short film performance followed by a
lecture on performance art by artist Steph Giera and videographer Tim Russell.
The lecture will conclude with a Q & A.
Closing Reception:
Sunday, April 13th
2-4 PM
The closing
reception will include a final screening of the artist’s short film performance
starting at 2:15 PM. Steph Giera will be present to take questions and chat.
