Event Details
This is a COMBO class for both NEW students and those who have taken the Introductory class. New students will learn how to combine your photographs with encaustic wax! Encaustic wax, used while melted, is an ancient medium that blends beautifully with photographic images to produce rich, unique hand-made pieces.
The workshop will cover safety and basic techniques of embedding printed images into the wax. We’ll then explore more complex techniques such as adding texture, painting on the image with pigmented wax, and image transfer into the wax. Each student will be able to make at least 5 small pieces using their own photographs, and all supplies are included. Students will be contacted prior to the workshop with information on sending the instructor 3 of your images to be printed and brought to the workshop for you to work with during the workshop. It is recommended to bring an apron or smock and that long hair be tied back. Contact the instructor for more information.
Those who have already taken the introductory workshop will build on what we did in the Introduction to Photo Encaustic class. They will explore ways to incorporate images into an encaustic piece such as image transfer, tissue paper prints, and gluing a matte photo onto the board, add texture with pigmented wax or plain medium, add layers to the piece, make lines, add touches with oil pastel and pan pastel, adding mixed media items such as threads or cheesecloth–all the fun stuff you can do with encaustic!

Sponsored by AdventHealth Ocala | RSVP to info@reillyartscenter.com
Open Rehearsals give families and students an opportunity to enjoy the orchestra in a relaxed environment, while experiencing an educational, behind-the-curtain view on how a symphony prepares for a professional concert!
Guests will hear from the conductor, watch our musicians up close, and can attend at their own speed! We encourage student groups and families to join us and take advantage of this unique event. During our season Friday night rehearsals begin at 7PM and the orchestra will begin rehearsing pieces they are playing for the upcoming concert. Guests are welcomed to stay for as long as they like. While Open Rehearsals are more relaxed than a formal orchestra performance, we do ask that all guests maintain concert manners and respect our musicians and conductor.
Open rehearsal are free and open to the public. While there are no tickets, we appreciate knowing that you plan to attend! We do serve snacks on a first come first serve basis, so if interested please email info@reillyartscenter.com and let us know you’ll be joining us.
6:30 PM – Lobby opens for snacks

The race/walk will begin and end at Ina A. Colen Academy.

Overcoming child abuse and neglect is a difficult process because the road to healing means children must name and revisit the painful things that were done to them. This journey is made easier when children, and those who are helping them, know they aren’t walking alone.

2024 Skunk Ape Trail Series:
The Skunk Ape Trail Series connects all four of the Skunk Ape Events trail races together into one challenge! This includes the Skunk Ape’s Revenge, the Skunk Ape 100 Mile Endurance Run, the Skunk Ape Night Run, and the Wild Boar Night Run!
It doesn’t matter which distance you choose, just as long as you show up and get that finish!
Everyone who completes the Skunk Ape Trail Series will be given a 2024 Jacket! This year for 2024, we’ll have a different color and design for y’all. Last year we had around 40 runners earn that jacket!
What is the Cross Florida Greenway?:
The Cross Florida Greenway is unique in many ways. Occupying more than 70,000 acres of land formerly known as the Cross Florida Barge Canal. This was one of the nation’s largest incomplete public works projects has been transformed into the diverse Cross Florida Greenway.
When the bridge was finished in 2000, the Cross Florida Greenway Land Bridge was the first true land bridge in the United States, modeled after a design used in the Netherlands. It’s essentially one massive planter!
The Greenway is also a wildlife corridor and the first in Florida to have a “land bridge” across a major interstate that both trail users and wildlife utilize. Black bears use the Greenway as a major corridor, especially on the eastern end near the Ocala National Forest.

Event Details
To kick off our upcoming musical “Jimmy Buffett’s Escape to Margaritaville,” we’re celebrating on Broadway in downtown Ocala. Endorsed by the legend himself, wildly popular Jimmy Buffett tribute band Gary Roland and The Landsharks Band will headline the celebration. After Jimmy played with The Landsharks in Key West, he hired them to be the house band at Margaritaville. They’ve played at Disney World 300+ times and at the Super Bowl, performed in concert with the Beach Boys, and toured nationally and in Europe. You’ll feel like you’re in the Caribbean with this fantastically fun and interactive “beach band” in an amazing concert of all the Parrothead favorites.
The “change in latitude” is at the intersection of SW Broadway Street and SW 1st Avenue, and the attitude is “licensed chill.” We’ll have plenty of margaritas for sale, along with other drinks to put the happy in happy hour. Local establishments will be open for business if you’re searching for your lost shaker of salt or a cheeseburger in paradise. A commemorative cup is included with your ticket and will be available at all participating establishments, allowing you to drink and mingle outdoors. Everybody’s a pirate this spring!
General tickets: $60
