Why do expensive wearable physiologic monitors fail to deliver on promises that they will improve our health and performance? Surprisingly, the quality of physiological data from wearable devices such as smart watches is relatively poor – and it worsens when you are sick, active or in extreme environments. While security and privacy constrain sharing and remote analysis of these data, processor cores and batteries limit artificial intelligence algorithms that can be used to analyze data on these devices. Finally, available devices do not provide users actionable information about their health, stress, and recovery when they need it most. Ongoing Department of Defense and industry sponsored research at IHMC is pushing beyond these limitations. We highlight development of technologies such as advanced physiological sensors, tactical noninvasive nerve stimulators, and novel “e-skin” materials that enable us to successfully assess and augment performance in extreme environments.

Introducing ACT OUT Night, a safe and supportive space for actors to shine. Whether you’re an experienced actor looking to try a new character or someone who’s never acted before, this is your chance to take the stage.

Here’s what to expect:

• Acting Performances: For the first half of the evening, it’s all about acting. Bring a monologue you’ve worked on or choose one from our provided selection. Memorized or not, it’s your call. And remember, feedback is entirely up to you—no unsolicited critiques allowed.
• After Party Performances: The second half opens up to other art forms. Sing a Broadway tune, test out new stand-up material, or even perform a bit of drag. This is your time to explore and express.

ACT OUT Night isn’t just about performing; it’s about building a community where everyone feels encouraged and celebrated. So, step out of your comfort zone and join us for a night of creativity, fun, and applause.

The Flattlanders are one of North Florida’s top bluegrass and gospel bands, delivering tight harmonies and a hard driving traditional sound with a contemporary edge. Established in early 2020, these members were already seasoned veterans in the genre, and are excited to share their gifts as a band. The band consists of Brian Andrews (guitar), Joey Lazio (mandolin), Andy Kennan (banjo), and Matt Melton, (bass). The Florida Thoroughbred Transformation Exposition is presented by the charitable organization Run for the Ribbons Inc. whose mission is to continue to improve Thoroughbred aftercare efforts in Florida through our aftercare program in Morriston, FL, while also providing a platform for Thoroughbred enthusiasts to showcase their equine partners annually at this event. Run for the Ribbons dedicates themselves to providing off- track Thoroughbreds the foundation needed to ensure a smooth transition into their next career and home through responsible rehabilitation and retraining. The Florida Thoroughbred Transformation Expo is RFTR’s way of celebrating the amazing breed and giving back to the horses and their riders.

The 8th Florida Thoroughbred Transformation Expo will be held on December 13th-15th, 2024 at the Florida Horse Park in Ocala, Florida. The Expo will now feature competitions in 7 disciplines including Dressage, Working Ranch/Trail Horse, Show Jumper, Show Hunter, Eventing, Freestyle, and the newly added Western Dressage. Competitors will compete for over $15,000 in prize money plus ribbons, and awards, while proudly showing off the versatility of the breed. Each discipline will have a restricted and open division and be composed of Jockey Club registered, tattooed, or microchipped off-track Thoroughbreds. Unraced Thoroughbreds are allowed to compete if microchipped/tattooed.

In honor of the Ring the Bell Initiative at Tampa Bay Downs, the 2024 Expo will feature a new Bell Horse Division, a special division exclusively for horses that had at least one start during the 2023-24 race meet at Tampa Bay Downs. This division will offer 3 classes and participants may choose to enter any or all of them. The classes offered in this division are: in-hand, w/t pleasure, and w/t/c pleasure. Be sure to read the full description of this division below.

The Florida Thoroughbred Transformation Expo will include a vendor fair with shopping and food for exhibitors and the public, and an educational seminar. The Expo is a great opportunity to show your support and get behind local Thoroughbred aftercare efforts while having fun with your equine partner! The lights show is on the move to our campus and will be held nightly from 6-9pm on December 13th-23rd (as well as December 26th-29th).

We’re creating walk-through displays around our campus which includes thousands of lights -and dozens of displays and trees – many synchronized to music and, along with train rides, crafts, and a chance to see Santa and buy some hot chocolate or snacks from food trucks.

There will also be live music and puppets on weekend nights.

There is NO entrance cost.

You can choose to donate to help us put on this event, but if you can’t afford it, consider it our gift to you.

Each participant will make their own wind chime and adults will help their accompanying child complete the art project.
