About the Exhibition:
Opening in the Edith-Marie Gallery, “Transformational Gifts” highlights over 200 new additions to the collection. The works included represent artists from as close as Florida to as far away as Central and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia with a timeline of over 2,000 years that ends with modern and contemporary. Individually and collectively, the ceramics, paintings, photographs, prints, sculptures, textiles, and more tell stories that spark conversation and inspire creativity. We invite you to discover how gifts to the museum truly keep giving

At 11 a.m., artist Margaret Ross Tolbert will give a free talk in the auditorium, “Canvassing Florida Springs.”
At 2 p.m., see a free screening of the documentary, “Lost Springs” with a brief intro by filmmaker Matt Keene.
The Donut Express and Brick & Ember food trucks will be onsite from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Saturday hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Free First Saturdays are sponsored in part by Marion Cultural Alliance, National Endowment for the Arts and CAMPUS USA Credit Union.

Event festivities include over 30 artist displays, monthly live entertainment, free family art activities provided by local arts organizations, and extended shopping hours.
Participating visual artists and buskers are located along the downtown sidewalks next to participating businesses. There are a variety of art mediums on display and for sale.
The main entertainment is located in the downtown gazebo.
**In the event of inclement weather, the First Friday Art Walk will be cancelled.

Shapot Art Gallery invites artists to submit their work for HOME, an upcoming exhibition that explores the meaning of “home.” Whether it’s a physical space, an emotional refuge, or a memory that holds significance, we encourage artists to share their personal interpretation of what home means to them. This is an opportunity to showcase diverse perspectives and expressions of comfort, belonging, and identity. Let your creativity flow and help us celebrate the many layers of “home” in this unique show.
Submissions are now open!
All submissions must adhere to the following rules:
*Artwork must relate to the show theme “home”. Some ideas might include local landmarks, a fond memory, or someone you love
*Artists are allowed to submit only 1 artwork each
*Artwork may not exceed 48″ height
*All mediums will be considered
*You must submit your art through the Google form (link below) by Saturday, November 2nd, 2024 11:59 PM EST. Contact shapot.art@gmail.com if you have any questions.
*In addition to the Google form, you must email high quality photographs of your art to shapot.art@gmail.com by Saturday, November 2nd, 2024 11:59 PM EST
*All submitting artists will be notified of acceptance by Monday, November 4th, 2024
*Artwork being mailed needs to be able to be easily repackaged in the case of it not selling during the exhibit. Shipped artwork must be received by Wednesday, November 6th. Artist is responsible for all shipping costs.
*Accepted artists will need to deliver their artwork to Shapot Art Gallery (2318 NE 8th Rd., Ocala, FL 34470) on Wednesday, November 6th 10 AM – 9 PM
