Ocala Cultural Arts presents the second annual OTrak Chalk Walk as part of the Tuscawilla Art Park Series. Walk along the OTrak to watch live chalk art drawing by professional and student artists competing for Best in Show, Second Place, and People’s Choice. Winners of the competitions will be announced at 4:30 p.m. in the Art Park. Enjoy live music, local artisans and craftsmen, non-profits, and food trucks along with the chalk art!

Families and attendees will be able to create their own chalk drawing at the Art Park for $10 (cash only). Chalk is provided by Ocala Cultural Arts along with a designated sidewalk square inside the park.

This free event will host live musical performances by Fareeza, Niño Castaneda, David Smith Jr., The Mudds as well as student performances by Devotions Dance Company. The Tuscawilla Art Park Series is sponsored by Fun4Ocala Kids.

The theme for 2025 OTrak Chalk Walk competition is “Natural Wonders, Great and Small”, focusing on Florida flora and fauna. The professional competition is open to artists currently working and residing in the state of Florida. The student competition is open to middle and high school students from Marion County, Florida.

This immersive tram ride takes you through the heart of the park’s unique sandhill ecosystems along scenic, unpaved trails. Enjoy a special stop at the historic museum and Pioneer Village, where you’ll step back in time and discover the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The journey continues with a short, guided walk along the Swamp Trail Boardwalk, providing breathtaking views of the Silver River at mile marker 1.7.

Finally, we’ll return to the park’s iconic archway, completing this memorable experience that highlights both the natural wonders and the fascinating history of Silver Springs.

Bring your sense of adventure and curiosity, and get ready for a tour that will deepen your appreciation for Florida’s wild landscapes!

The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department will host the second annual Brick City Bluegrass Festival on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at Citizens’ Circle (151 SE Osceola Ave.) from 1 to 7 p.m. This festival offers residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy an afternoon of live bluegrass music from a selection of well-known national and regional bands in a family-friendly outdoor setting.

In addition to live music, the event will feature food trucks, offering a variety of meal and snack options. Beer and wine will also be available for purchase. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs to fully enjoy the day in a relaxed, open-air environment at Citizens’ Circle.

The 2025 lineup includes The Wandering Hours, Unspoken Tradition, East Nash Grass, Pert Near Sandstone, and Arkansauce. These performers are recognized across the bluegrass community for their unique takes on traditional and modern bluegrass, blending intricate instrumentation and vocal harmonies. The festival will appeal to bluegrass enthusiasts and newcomers alike, providing a range of music styles within the bluegrass genre.

• Early Bird Tickets: $20 per person (Available until Nov. 30)
• Advance Tickets: $25 per person (Available Dec. 1 through Jan. 31, 2025)

First Friday Art Walk takes place the first Friday of each month, September through May from 6 to 9 p.m. First Friday Art Walk is a free event located within Ocala’s historic downtown.

Event festivities include over 30 artist displays, monthly live entertainment, free family art activities provided by local arts organizations, and extended shopping hours.

Participating visual artists and buskers are located along the downtown sidewalks next to participating businesses. There are a variety of art mediums on display and for sale.

The main entertainment is located in the downtown gazebo.
