Community Stages Trunk & Trek Troupe presents: Christmas in Oz
Join us for a heartwarming adventure in Oz this holiday season! Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion are back, facing the wicked Miss Gulch, who’s ready to foreclose on the farm. When the gang travels to Oz for help, they find a surprising sign—“Closed for Christmas!” Undeterred, they decide to celebrate Christmas in Oz, with plenty of magic and music to go around. Even the Wicked Witch receives her first-ever Christmas present, a gift that changes her heart. Together, they discover that the true spirit of Christmas is all about sharing with others.
Featuring Christmas in Oz by Val Cheatham, this 45-minute musical brings the world of Kansas and Oz to life with eight songs and an uplifting message. Directed by Terry LeCompte, with music direction by Greg Doss and choreography by DeNaya Wilkerson, the Trunk & Trek Troupe—comprised of 14 talented young actors, ages 9-18—invites audiences to use their imaginations as they journey between worlds, all with the help of what’s inside their traveling show trunks.
Thanks to our incredible community partners, performances are free to the public at three special venues: The Appleton Museum of Art, The Mary Sue Rich Center at Reed Place, and The Heritage Nature Conservancy.
Reservations are highly encouraged, and donations are greatly appreciated.

Headlining Act: Bryce Mauldin
Originally from Webster, FL, Bryce Mauldin is bringing the Sunshine State heat to the Nashville Country Music scene. His ability to catch the attention of country music fans spanning from classic country to contemporary, with covers and original music, led him to viral fame on all social media platforms. As a fully independent artist, he has amassed an impressive 20+ MILLION streams on his original music. Bryce brings a style that is all his own and captures every age of country music in his songs. Hard hitting single, “City Limits” showcases a rocking modern country sound resembling that of one of Bryce’s key influences, Jason Aldean. Conversely, lyricism and steel guitar slow down the tempo and bring the soul to a classic, heartbreak country song in “Seeing Somebody Else.” Bryce strives to write music that is not only relatable to his own life, but gives a voice to his fans in their life experiences. With this in mind he is forging a path to becoming a household name.
Opening Act: Noah Hunton
Noah Hunton is a 25-year-old local from Ocala who has big dreams of becoming a country star. Hunton has opened for big names like Craig Campbell, Tristan Tritt, Colt Ford, Hinder, Brandon Heath, and many more. Hunton names his proudest accomplishment to be performing in front of 6,000 people, while opening for Colt Ford in Oxford, Florida. You’ll be surprised by Hunton’s low voice and entertained by his fun attitude on stage!

T.J. MILLER is a comedian. He has been diligently working to make people laugh for over two and a half years because life is tragic and the best thing he can do is make you giggle and perhaps pee. He is famous in Norway. A skilled improviser, no show is ever the same. Let me repeat that- no show you ever see will be the same. Dare you? See them all?
T.J. has been in over 25 major studio films. You may recognize his non-animated face and body from DEADPOOL 1 & 2, the highest-grossing R-rated films of all time, forever, 2014’s surprise indie hit TRANSFORMERS 4: AGE OF EXTINCTION, Mike Judge’s HBO series SILICON VALLEY (Critics’ Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor) and many more. Most recently, T.J. was the star of OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY, opposite Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston, i-R0ck in READY PLAYER ONE directed by Steven Spielberg, UNDERWATER opposite Kristen Stewart; a sci-fi disaster thriller- the perfect full circle return to his roots in CLOVERFIELD, and finally THE STAND-IN opposite Drew Barrymore, an official selection for the TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL, canceled due to the pandemic and 2020 generally being a fuckstick of a year.
He is first and foremost, a comedian. His standup is “Smooth Like Fire, Hip Like Lincoln.” He will work until his death to make you happy. He loves you. He is a gentle giant, and would like you to see a live show. It’s better that way
