Join DeNaya Wilkerson, BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance) as she leads an authentic African Dance class every Monday evening at Silver Springs Shores Community Center. No experience necessary. This class is open to children, teens, adults, and senior adults. Dance is the life blood of native African tribes. The voice of the people to come together through expression about life, loss, celebration, rites of passage, nature, and so much more. ACT OUT Night

Calling all aspiring actors and performers!

We’ve got karaoke for singers, open mics for stand-up comics, and jam sessions for musicians. But where do actors go to practice and perform?

Introducing ACT OUT Night, a safe and supportive space for actors to shine. Whether you’re an experienced actor looking to try a new character or someone who’s never acted before, this is your chance to take the stage.

Here’s what to expect:

• Acting Performances: For the first half of the evening, it’s all about acting. Bring a monologue you’ve worked on or choose one from our provided selection. Memorized or not, it’s your call. And remember, feedback is entirely up to you—no unsolicited critiques allowed.
• After Party Performances: The second half opens up to other art forms. Sing a Broadway tune, test out new stand-up material, or even perform a bit of drag. This is your time to explore and express.

ACT OUT Night isn’t just about performing; it’s about building a community where everyone feels encouraged and celebrated. So, step out of your comfort zone and join us for a night of creativity, fun, and applause.

Because who knows where it might lead? At the very least, it’s a lot more exciting than performing in front of your bathroom mirror. Let’s ACT OUT together!

Love Origami?? Do you want to learn the fascinating art of paper folding? Join Barbara Fife on Thursdays, beginning July 3.
Origami is the ancient art of paper folding that has its origins in China and Japan. Oru in Japanese means “to fold” and kami means “paper”. Origami is an art and a hobby that can be done by anybody at any age. We will start with simpler designs and gradually move on to more complex origami projects. Origami can be both two-dimensional or more complex three-dimensional objects.

This is a beginner friendly class, no experience needed, but more advanced students are welcome to the club. They may wish to share some of their expertise with other club members and demonstrate more complex models.

Cost $15 per session. Includes supplies, but students may bring their own origami papers and bone folder if they wish

Friends of the Ocala Public Library is holding its next clearance book sale beginning on Friday, August 1 for Friends members only, (but memberships are available at the door) from 1:30 pm-3:30 pm, and then opens to the general public on Saturday, August 2, 10 am-2 pm. Sale is held in the Ocala Public Library headquarters meeting rooms, 2720 Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala.

Proceeds of the sale benefit children and adult programs, materials, audio and ebooks, and staff development at Ocala main, Reddick, Ft. McCoy, and Sankofa branches of the Marion County Public Library system.

All childrens books and all paperback books are 25 cents each, and all hardbacks are 50 cents each. Cash and checks only.

A national favorite from his 10 seasons on Discovery Channel’s hit series “Moonshiners,” Beaz also regularly performs at The Grand Ole Opry. This hilarious, high-energy everyman appeals to all audiences with his laugh-out-loud clean comedy. Meet the man himself before the show with a VIP ticket!
